Governance for Growth

The Warlpiri Education and Training Trust Advisory Committee

Indigenous Governance Awards 2018

Finalist – Category B

Established in 2005, the Warlpiri Education and Training Trust (WETT) is an Aboriginal-controlled initiative to improve the education and training outcomes in four Yapa (Warlpiri-speaking) communities of the Tanami Desert. The members of the WETT Advisory Committee monitor and develop programs and partnerships that promote bilingual and bicultural education and lifelong learning.

Their success was acknowledged in 2018, when WETT was announced the Category B winner of the Indigenous Governance Awards.

Watch the video below for more information and to hear Loretta Napangardi Johnson from WETT, speak about their governance practices.
