2021 RAP Conference: Meaningful Partnerships

During the 2021 RAP conference, our very own Rosemary Smith (Manager of Policy & Indigenous Governance) participated in a webinar about Meaningful partnerships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses. She spoke alongside Charlie Jewkes, Director of Transport at WSP and Russell Reid, National RAP Lead at WSP as well as a surprise appearance from Adrian Carson, CEO of the Institute for Urban Indigenous Health.

The 2019 RAP Impact Measurement report shows that over 11,000 partnerships existed between RAP organisations and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations, in the 2019/2020 financial year.

Partnerships are a critical component of the reconciliation journey. Shared experiences create the context to deepen respect and create opportunities that benefit both Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and non-Indigenous people.

Forging lasting and meaningful partnerships requires a rights-based approach, one that takes the time and effort to establish relationships built on trust.
